Counter-Free Input-Determined Timed Automata

چکیده
We identify a class of timed automata, which we call counter-free input-determined automata, which characterize the class of timed languages definable by several timed temporal logics in the literature, including MTL. We make use of this characterization to show that MTL+Past satisfies an “ultimate stability” property with respect to periodic sequences of timed words. Our results hold for both the pointwise and continuous semantics. Along the way we generalize the result of McNaughtonPapert to show a counter-free automata characterization of FO-definable finitely varying functions.

Adding Dense-Timed Stack to Integer Reset Timed Automata
Integer reset timed automata (IRTA) are known to be a determinizable subclass of timed automata, but it is not known whether they are input-determined, i.e., the clock values are completely determined by an input timed word. We first define a syntactic subclass of IRTA called strict IRTA and show that strict IRTA is equivalent to IRTA. We show that the class of strict IRTA is indeed input-deter...
متن کاملRelating Reachability Problems in Timed and Counter Automata
We establish a relationship between reachability problems in timed automata and spacebounded counter automata. We show that reachability in timed automata with three or more clocks is logarithmic-space inter-reducible with reachability in space-bounded counter automata with two counters. We moreover show the logarithmic-space equivalence of reachability in two-clock timed automata and space-bou...
متن کاملEvent-Clock Visibly Pushdown Automata
Event-clock automata is a determinizable subclass of timed automata, where the clock valuations are determined by the input instead of by the transition relation. In this note, we propose event-clock visibly pushdown automata (ECVPAs) as a proper extension of event-clock automata. The class of ECVPAs is sufficiently expressive to model real-time pushdown systems, and to specify common non-regul...
متن کاملOn the Relationship between Reachability Problems in Timed and Counter Automata
This paper establishes a relationship between reachability problems in timed automata and space-bounded counter automata. We show that reachability in timed automata with three or more clocks is naturally logarithmic-space interreducible with reachability in spacebounded counter automata with two counters. We moreover show the logarithmic-space equivalence of reachability in two-clock timed aut...
متن کاملOn Continuous Timed Automata with Input-Determined Guards
We consider a general class of timed automata parameterized by a set of “input-determined” operators, in a continuous time setting. We show that for any such set of operators, we have a monadic second order logic characterization of the class of timed languages accepted by the corresponding class of automata. Further, we consider natural timed temporal logics based on these operators, and show ...
